We always hear people say things like “my energy is so low today” or “I’m feeling totally energized!” This “energy” is our life fuel. We need it to function at our “A” game every day. However, as we go along through life, we get hit by energy drains, just like the snags in your tire. It’s a regular part of being human. Eventually, we feel tired, slow, impatient, overwhelmed, and generally down. Though, some days are better than others! Especially those days when something extra special is in the air, like getting great feedback from a colleague or boss, someone brought you flowers, you dressed up in your hottest most confident feeling outfit, you got a raise, or there is some fun event to look forward to. These little events give you an energy boost and they keep you going on a “high” for a little while, until these boosts lose their impact and the daily grind sets in again. Like the tire gets a short lived boost of “air”, we get a short lived boost of “energy”.
Okay, I think you get the whole tire thing by now. Should I clarify? Okay, here goes. The air in the tire is the same as the energy in our lives. The air and the energy are the fuel for the tire and life, respectively, so that they can each work at optimal levels.
So, now what?
Managing your life energy means identifying the BIG leak. There may be lots of little energy zappers that come and go, but they don’t really last too long and are manageable. Think about it – what is the single biggest area of your life that is draining your energy? Get extremely real and clear about this. Is it money, health, relationships, or something else? If you fixed this “energy leak” then it would free up a lot of energy (aka vitality) for other areas of your life. Harmony and balance would begin to restore themselves and handling the small upsets or challenges wouldn't feel as overwhelming.
How to fix the energy leak?
This is best explained by using an example. If your biggest stress right now is a lack of money. Then get really clear about who you would be if you were successful in the realm of money. Do everything in your power to be the definition of that success. Maybe this means working overtime, finding a new job that pays more while you go to school for something you really love, saving a little bit every week, paying down the debt with whatever you can spare (even if it is just a few dollars), make finding employment your full time job, going out of your comfort zone in your business just like a person who is successful with money would do.
You can apply the same principle to any area of your life. If you want to attract the love of your life then BE the love of your own life. Be the kind of person you want to attract. Develop a deeply satisfying and compassionate relationship with yourself.
It all stars with the self. Be what you want your life to reflect back at you. You will see tremendous change. Your life will function much better. When you don’t have enough energy, life is rough. When you don’t have enough air in your tires, the car ride is wobbly and bumpy. Everything functions better when it has the fuel that it needs!
Start now by asking yourself “in what area do I have the biggest energy leak?” and “who would I be if I was 100% committed to closing that leak?”
