How you answered the above question will say a lot about you and your life experience. Are you happy, sad, scared, excited, overwhelmed? Be honest with yourself. How do you really feel most of the time? What do you say about how you are feeling to others? Do you robotically answer “I’m good” or “could be better”? Whatever you’re truly feeling behind the words is the message that you are sending to the world around you. If you truly feel good, then you are likely experiencing a lot of “good feeling things” in your life. If you’re constantly feeling down or overwhelmed, well you’re probably creating more of the same in your life.
We like to downplay the importance of “feelings” in our culture. As if, being in tune with your “feelings” is bad or unproductive. Look, let’s clear this up right now: every healthy functioning human being is able to experience a full range of emotions. How you choose to deal with your feelings and emotions is the important part. Do not live in your negative feeling. Refuse to let it take you over.
Ever heard of the term “fake it until you make it”? This IS the key. Force yourself into higher vibrating emotions. Happiness, calm, joy, peace, and love are emotions that you must practice. I recently heard someone exclaim, “happiness is a skill, practice often.” The truth of this statement is resounding. If you haven’t felt consistently happy, fulfilled, deserving, or prosperous in a long time then making the “switch” is going to take some work. That’s okay. Start one minute at a time. Small steps can make massively lasting impacts.
Do this right now: walk up to the mirror and say “I deeply and completely love myself”. It may feel funny or fake at first. Say it a few more times and really feel the truth of those words inside your being. Pick your affirmation and work on it everyday. The results can be astounding. Give yourself a chance. Commit.
